Comes out right

- Text is part of the picture: no selecting, searching or editing.
- Colors are RGB; CMYK is converted by formula, so not for color-accurate proofs.

- Lab, Duotone and Multichannel files: not supported yet.

PSD to PDF with layers: one page per layer
Under Pages, One page per layer gives each visible layer its own page, bottom layer first, at canvas size and in its place, on white. Hidden and empty layers are skipped. Picture, then each layer puts the finished design first. In Photoshop this takes File > Export > Layers to Files, then File > Automate > PDF Presentation.
Original size, A4 or Letter
Original size follows the file's DPI: 3000 × 2000 pixels at 300 DPI makes a 10 × 6.67 inch page, ready to print at real size. A4 (210 × 297 mm) and Letter (8.5 × 11 in) turn sideways for wide pictures, which are scaled to fit a half-inch margin. Letter is usual in the US and Canada, A4 elsewhere.
Image quality: smaller file or lossless
High quality, smaller file stores solid pages as JPEG at quality 92, light enough to email. Lossless keeps every pixel, in a larger file, for archives. Pages with transparency, like most layer pages, are always lossless, and see-through parts show the white page. Either way, the PDF keeps your design's full pixel size.
Text, color and printing
Pages are pictures: text looks as it does in the file, fonts or not, but cannot be selected, searched or edited. Colors are RGB; CMYK is converted by formula, close but not exact. Fine for review prints, not for color-accurate proofs. For a print shop, export a PDF from Photoshop with the shop's color settings.
When a PSD opens blank
Saved with Maximize Compatibility off, a PSD holds no ready-made picture, so previews and many converters show a blank. This tool spots that, rebuilds the picture from the layers and marks the file. Masks, groups and blend modes come back; layer styles, adjustment layers and smart filters may differ. Check each layer in the PSD viewer.
